Effect of Acceleratedly Aged Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) Seeds on Physiological and Biochemical Properties

Background: Accelerated ageing causes seeds to deteriorate that affect the seed quality of groundnut seeds. Seed deterioration will cause metabolic and chemical changes viz., lipid peroxidation autoxidation, leading loss membrane integrity enzyme activities. These are associated with reduced germination vigour. Methods: The cv. VRI 8 was subjected for accelerated at 40oC 100% RH upto 11 days evaluated physiological biochemical in ageing. Results: vigour aged exhibited declining trend which well correlated antioxidant activities catalase, peroxidase, super oxide dismutase, ascorbate peroxidase glutathione reductase whereas negatively electrical conductivity, electrolyte leakage proline content. decline activity impairment process caused by damage during inability repair compensate accumulated damage.
